The founder and director is Elma Fonseca de Velaquez. She has been
ministering to orphan girls for over twenty years now. Because of her, and her
prayers, many of the Reynosa city officials and civic clubs as well as churches and
individual Christians have become involved in helping. Elma was an
insurance executive whose heart was touched by the children living in the
city dump. The orphanage actually began as Sunday afternoon trips to the
dump to bring food to these children. As the number of hungry children
grew, so did the donated food to feed them and the volunteers to help.
Elma eventually rented a small building as the first step to an actual
orphanage. Within about three years American Christians became
involved enough that land could be bought and the present orphanage could
be built.

Elma has conducted conferences for the
women of Reynosa on being the mother and wife that Jesus wants, and hundreds of
women from the city have attended each of them. From a city of
1.8 million people; she was named
Woman of the Year in 2004 and 2007. In 2008 she was given the honor "Mother
of the City"; she was also named Volunteer of the year for the State
of Tamaulipas. Casa M.A.Mi was named first in the city (of 13 similar
homes), and was named Exemplary home for the State.

| Other Staff: Abraham and his wife Martha
are Elma's right hand man and wife. They are a mature couple, both in age
and in Christ. Calm, stable, sensible - they provide a highly reliant
pillar of support for Elma and the children. When Elma is out, Abraham and
Martha, along with Mikey, are the people who keep things running smoothly. |
 |
Mikey is Elma's other right hand. He is fluent in English
and has had experience working in the States. He is highly competent in
managing local workmen on the facilities, and is an indispensable aid to
teams from the States coming for ministry. His new wife, Socia, is
outgoing, personable, and deals well with people coming in to help for the
first time. They are resident staff - which is a tremendous benefit to the
ministry. |

Other staff provide mothering,
oversight and discipline, and spiritual training. Part of the spiritual
training is weekly devotionals for their care group. Other staff provide
cooking, cleaning, laundering and the other services that are needed.
Please regularly lift up these servants in prayer.
